Making Connections as we Read

In first grade, we learn about making connections and building upon what we already know about a concept. We've spent a lot of time the past few weeks learning about making connections between texts on the same topic and sharing what we've learned. We would use Venn diagrams to help us compare the texts to see how the information we learned is alike and how it's different. The students enjoyed sharing what they learned, as well as hearing about what their classmates learned from the texts.
